The world’s first and only small-scale PCIe® Gen 5 ready switch, and fully backwards compatible, Zetti comes with unique, high-end features, including Peer to Peer transaction and Hot Plug support.
Zetti supports one upstream port (up to four lanes) and up to six downstream ports (four or six lanes total), each simultaneously functioning as an independent PCIe port with different speeds and capabilities. This provides maximum system design flexibility – allowing ultra-mobile processors with limited PCIe IO resources to support more PCIe endpoint devices.
“System designers working with lower-cost CPUs in the peripherals and IoT market, with limited die space for PCIe lanes, are currently restricted to Gen 3 speeds,” explains Kandou VP of Sales & Business Development, Thomas Boudrot. “If one or more endpoints need to run at full PCIe Gen 5 speed, designers are forced to add more lanes at a higher cost or employ inefficient workarounds such as under-utilizing bandwidth. This is a waste of time, money, and technology. Zetti offers a solution.”
Inspired by Switzerland’s historic mountain irrigation channels, the brand name Zetti was chosen for Kandou’s latest product because of the striking parallels between the centuries-old technique for diverting glacial water known as Zetti and the functionality of a transport layer switch. At the junction between the power of nature and the genius of human innovation, you’ll find Zetti – a fitting name for a groundbreaking new switch.

A feature-rich 7-port (8-lane) packet switch, Zetti is PCIe Gen-5 ready and fully backwards compatible with Gen 1 to 4. This makes it a first for the industry.
Designed specifically for small form factor and lower power system design with its compact 5.5mm x 10mm package housing, Zetti was created with the IoT and peripherals market in mind.
Its high-end features include Peer to Peer Transaction, which offloads CPU memory access workload to reduce latency and power consumption while enhancing system performance, and Hot Plug Support, a feature usually only included with large scale switches, as standard.
Our advanced on-chip diagnostics tool, Besso, is also built in and included for free for rapid debugging on the bench or in the field to accelerate time to market.
Zetti’s security is also next level with support for secure boot platform to prevent cyber attackers from altering its sideband boot configuration stored in external secure SPI flash. Finally, our switch’s plug and play design ensures easy integration into systems with global technical assistance and an outstanding lab service from Kandou’s dedicated team.
